A “learning council” is made up of a group of individuals within a school that meets to share knowledge and ideas around effective learning in order to accomplish two major goals: Communicating the existing learning and developing new and improved learning ideas.

At Yardley Gobion CE Primary our Learning Council two representatives from each year group, from Year 3 to Year 6 and representatives for Key Stage 1, from the Year 2 Class.

Miss Birch (Sapphire Class Teacher) attends the meeting to support the councillors and to answer any questions regarding school policy and procedure. She facilitates the meetings but does not lead them; the older pupils are developing their chairing skills.

Our Key Aims for 2019/20:

  • strengthen Class council work to feed into the Pupil Council
  • provide pupil voice evidence to support the monitoring of Teaching and Learning
  • to provide areas to improve the Yardley Gobion School experience for all pupils
