Welcome to Amethyst Class

Our Teacher is Mr Thompson and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Benn

In Literacy, each term, children focus on one text, which is linked to the foundation topic in Year 5/6. In Numeracy we are using White Rose Maths to stimulate children’s learning using both concrete, pictorial and abstract methods to really understand our learning. In the afternoon we will be exploring different topics.

Our first topic this year will be Rule Britannia which is all about the Viking invasion of Britain. The key learning will involve:

  • Where the Vikings came from and why they chose to settle in England.
  • The significant figures and key events that took place during the Viking period.
  • What life was like for sailors, warriors, children and criminals.
  • The legacy of the Battle of Hastings and the Bayeux Tapestry.

Amethyst class is full of hard-working, competitive children that really enjoy learning by ‘doing’! The children are an extremely talented bunch in many different ways and show this through art, music, sport and spirituality.
